Our closest friends became our very first customers, right after Adriana, our creative director, shared on Instagram the first piece she ever made. They loved it, and we carried on doing it as a hobby for a few months. It may sound like a cliché, but back then we were making them inside our own apartment (there was no garage, though it felt close to one) and we would welcome friends over to talk through everything they wanted in their customized backpack.
We are Ölend and we make backpacks and objects.
( 1 ) WHY ÖLEND
Ölend started out as a passion project shared by Adriana and Fran, who first met while working on a film shoot in Barcelona. A DIY backpack course came next, and soon they were making designs of their own — pieces that friends and complete strangers kept asking about. As demand grew, Ölend was born, and Antonio and Juan, Fran's childhood friends, joined the company shortly after.
From that first backpack sewn in our living room to the showrooms and streets where our pieces travel today, we are still driven by the same goal: giving our clients the best possible experience.
( 2 ) HOW WE DO IT
We have been designing and testing our backpacks in Barcelona since late 2012. We believe in what you are building, and that is why we create accessories for the real city adventurer, drawing on the spirit of the mountaineers of the 40's and 50's.
